Combined Courses: Montessori 3-6 Specialisation AND QCTO Occupational Certificate Early Childhood Practitioner Course SAQA ID: 97542, Level 4, 131 credits
This is a two-year programme. In year one, the student will graduate with a Specialisation Montessori 3-6 Pre-primary Certificate and the Occupational certificate Early Childhood Practitioner Course SAQA ID: 97542, Level 4, 131 credits in year two or vice versa. The Programme This 240 credits programme is a good way to start your career as a Montessori teacher. It can be studied Full-Time or Part-Time using a blended learning approach. It provides an excellent combination of hands-on practical experience with theory, preparing you to confidently guide and enrich the lives of children, and offers an excellent understanding of Montessori education. Graduates from this programme may register with the South African Council of Educators (SACE) and may work in the Early Childhood field (3-6 years) as a lead guide and/or Head of school.
The academic component includes: ● intensive grounding in Montessori philosophy and practice ● classroom management ● techniques for starting a Montessori school ● the use, sequence and method of presentation of the Montessori didactic materials in all curriculum areas ● the application of theory as well as the practical components of music & art ● science & culture seminars
Lectures alternate with practical sessions under the guidance of qualified and experienced lecturers. Each module has a theory and practical component. After successful completion of the academic component, students are required to complete an internship in a Montessori preschool environment. Full-Time Classes are held during the week from 08h30 – 14h00. Part-Time classes are held on Saturdays from 08h30 – 16h00.
All our dual qualifications have an online component. We make use of Google Classroom, which can easily be accessed on a smartphone, iPad or laptop. Students are given a basic introduction to the programme and ideally will learn many important skills using this format.
