In an effort to curb the increase of Covid-19, schools around the country were closed and are not scheduled to open for at least a few weeks. Citizens are asked to be responsible and to practice social distancing, leaving many families at a loss for ideas to keep the little ones entertained.
This period of self-isolation and social distancing presents a unique opportunity in our very busy lives to take a moment to pause, to reflect and to get to know our families just a little better.
While it is safe to take a walk, play in your garden or even do some gardening, it’s lovely to have some activities set up for your under 6 year olds. Our Sea Point Montessori Team compiled a list of simple activities that parents could easily do with their children (aged 18 month – 6 year olds), which you can find below (feel free to share and spread the love):
Remember though, that children as young as 18 months can already start with chores – and no, it’s not about child labour, but rather holds lots of benefits for the child’s development. (Look out for our next post on suitable chores for children)
Until then, stay safe, practice social distancing and remember to sanitize!
